The men who belong to the Knights of Columbus at St. Therese of Lisieux, embody the principles of the Order which were established by our founder Blessed Michael McGivney in 1882, in New Haven, Connecticut. These principles govern the Knight’s activities today as they did in 1882 and are:
Every meeting starts with a prayer asking for the guidance of the Holy Spirit during our deliberations followed by the Pledge of Allegiance showing our patriotism. We do what we do because we love working together for the greater good!
You have seen me around church in many different roles: speaking at Mass during Membership Drives, selling raffle tickets and directing traffic during Fish Frys, pulling weeds and planting in the Rosary Garden, selling lottery tickets to benefit those with intellectual and physical challenges, helping serve food during the Sunday coffee and donuts and distributing communion as a Eucharistic Minister. These are some of the things that Knights do to better themselves, their council, their church, and their community. I have not regretted becoming a Knight of Columbus.
One of the other benefits of becoming a Knight is being able to take advantage of the great insurance program that the Knights of Columbus offers. It is rated as one of the top 5 insurance companies in the world, offering whole life and term insurance, disability and long-term care programs, and annuities and mutual funds for investment.
The Knights of Columbus has a lot to offer and we ask you to join us and find the pride of saying:
I am a Knight!
Paul Bieber
Grand Knight
Council 11957
As many of you know, the Council wanted to be uniform in appearance when we go to Knights of Columbus functions, especially when we are with fellow Knights from other councils and at parish events. For this reason, we have come up with a new shirt for the St. Therese of Lisieux council. It is maroon with a small cross with an intertwined rose on the back. It is a light-weight cotton blend that is very comfortable. Pictures of it are below.
These shirts can now be ordered by contacting Brother Knight Scott Kozak at [email protected]. The shirts cost $29.00 each and will be ordered when there are sufficient requests. All members are encouraged to obtain the new shirt. Wives of council members may also wear this shirt.
