Evangelization Commission Description
This commission serves as a catalyst for the evangelizing efforts of the parish. The members work to ensure that evangelizing is a parish priority and that it is integrated into all ages and areas of parish life. Evangelization is an ongoing process and the responsibility of all of us. It is at the heart of what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ.
The mission of the Evangelization Commission is to
Pope Francis has said to us, "I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ, or at least openness to letting Him encounter them."
Evangelization Activities ~
Family Life: The mission of Family Life is to strengthen families by building community through opportunities provided through the parish. Various family events are held for children and their families. In addition, many related articles are included in the parish bulletin. All of these events provide for growth among all age groups in the parish and bring members together to share enjoyable opportunities with other Catholic families. Additional ideas are always welcome and continue to be added.
Marriage Ministry: This ministry works to support the sacrament and vocation of marriage by hosting a wide variety of events geared toward married couples throughout the year. Parish member’s ideas and participation is always welcome.
Welcoming Committee: This committee provides a warm welcome to families and adults who are new to our parish. Members of this ministry make a personal phone call to each newly registered family and assemble Welcome Packets for all new members. The Welcome Committee also hosts a Welcome Dinner a few times a year for new parishioners so they may meet other St. Therese of Lisieux families and get information about the parish.
Intercessory Prayer Group: The intercessory prayer group was formed at the request of the Archdiocese of Detroit in support of, “Unleash the Gospel.” This group meets every first Tuesday of the month online via Zoom. All are welcome. This group prays for the needs of our priests, our leadership team, our parishioners, and for bringing all souls to Jesus Christ. What is intercessory prayer? Those who enter into intercessory prayer make a decision to pray on behalf of a person or group of people. Intercessors “go between” the Lord and those who need prayer. We are to stand with Jesus in this “gap” as intercessors and unite our prayers with Jesus in His Name. The Intercessory Prayer group prays together from a prayer handout of intercessory prayers, which may change monthly.
Catholic Schools: The goal is to connect Catholic schools in the area and our parish. Our first Catholic Schools Showcase was a success in January, 2011. A notebook is available in the parish office with information on area elementary and secondary schools. The goal is to have more information and connections for encouraging a Catholic school education for interested families. Currently, the Archdiocese of Detroit website can be utilized for Catholic school information. Click here for the AOD website.
Adult Education: “Christians are made, not born,” said the early Church theologian Tertullian (c:200 A.D), and his statement is just as accurate today as it was in Tertullian’s day. Becoming a Christian is a life-long process which begins and continues throughout our lives. It is truly a “womb-to-tomb” process. Adult Education seeks to deepen our spirituality, to expand our understanding and knowledge of our faith, and strengthen our ability to live out our commitment to the Gospel in our daily lives. St. Paul said, “All of us, gazing… on the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…” (2 Cor 3:18).

Vocations: Catholic vocations include the priesthood, consecrated men and women, permanent deacons, a variety of other careers in ministry, the married life, and the single life. Activities include the Vocations Chalice, Marriage Ministry Events, Marriage Encounter Weekends and a Vocations Awareness month in January.
